What is DNS Server?

Here is the tutorial to understand what is DNS Server When we open a website through a web browser then DNS(Domain Name Server) translates the website url to the IP address of the website and then than website comes to our web browser. Basically every websites which we open actually works with its IP address. Every website on internet ahas a unique IP address. We can see IP address of every website by a very simple trick.

1. Open DOS by typing cmd in Run or Search Box in Start Button.

2. Now type ping www.google.com and press enter.

It will ping the website by sending some bytes to www.google.com and we will see the IP address of www.google.com on our DOS window.

So it is clear that every website which we surf on internet has some unique IP address and we can open any website by typing its IP address instead or its url. But its very difficult to remember IP address of each website so DNS server keeps track of every url with its IP address. So we can access the websites easily without remembering the IP address.
